My earliest childhood memories are of the farm I grew up on. As a kid, I was always drawn to animals. Dogs, horses, cows, birds but CATS!!!
Cats were definitely my obsession! Almost all of my photos were of me... with a cat.
In my late twenties, I fostered kittens for the Toronto Humane Society for a while and then when I was pregnant with my first child, Eric I decided to temporarily put my volunteer work on hold.
After my second child, Tessa was born and my kids became teenagers, I was reminded of my obsession fostering kittens and wanting to give back to the community.
Watching my kids fall in love with our animals was so special. Tessa specifically showed an interest in volunteering with the humane society when she was just 13 years old.
This is when our partnership in foster care flourished. I always say that I have truly found my calling. Opening Cages was meant to be from the very beginning!
